Beauty exists from discovering the “silver lining.”We all hate "bad days" and love our "good days." But, it is important to understand that our bad days are just as important, if not more valuable than our good days. Our bad days are meant to challenge us, force us grow, and teach us life lessons that will never be forgotten. Sometimes the bad days can lead to something good. So, with that said, I hope you find the silver lining from those "bad days." Life is unpredictable, It is a privilege to grow old, and nothing in life is guaranteed.
The year 2020 taught us all many valuable life lessons. And, as we grow we will experience many ups, downs, twists, and turns that life has to offer. It is unavoidable and at times, might feel very uncomfortable. But, growing pains make life beautiful and every emotion is temporary. Beauty is sometimes discovered from the darkest of days, and will become part of your story. Learning how to process emotions in a healthy way along with being kind and patient with ourselves, will help us grow into the best version of ourselves. People spend most of their lives learning how to manage their emotions. Life has a way of throwing lemons our way. But, I promise one day we will all be able to discover some comfort from, "the silver lining" after a bad day, or situation.
If you are ever feeling frustrated or having a hard time coping, or managing your emotions, watch the 1993 ESPY speech by Jim Valvano. It is by far one of my favorite inspirational speeches. For those of you that don't know, Jim Valvano was a very well-known basketball player, coach, and broadcaster. Unfortunately, he lost his battle to cancer in the early 90s. But, his legacy and his wisdom live on.
Valvano said, " To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special."
In conclusion, don't take life too seriously. We are all learning as we go. Don't stick to a plan because plans change constantly. It is best to just take it day by day. Do not forget to believe in your own goals, and keep dreaming.
When life throws you lemons, make lemonade, and discover the silver living.
